About Dr. Keel
Dr. Keel‘s passion for flight started as a child. He has been flying since the age of 16, and is a commercially certificated pilot who enjoys traveling with his family and wife who is also a pilot.
When he is not flying, he is a Professor and Chair at the University of South Alabama. - Whiddon College of Medicine - Department of Urology. He specializes in Urologic Oncology and Robotic Surgery
Clinical Services
Dr. Keel sees patients and performs surgery in Mobile and Fairhope.
2nd and 3rd Class FAA Medical Exams are offered at our Fairhope office on the USA Mapp Family Campus off Highway 181.
Consulting Services
Dr. Keel consults with hospitals, physician groups, and health systems on the practical side of urology and surgical care. He founded the Department of Urology at USA Health and built it from the ground up into a full academic department, so he knows what it takes to stand up services, manage surgical volume, and make a department run.
As Director of Robotic and Minimally Invasive Urologic Surgery, he is an experienced robotic surgeon across all da Vinci platforms. He proctors surgeons through case observation, hands-on coaching, and credentialing support so they can reach independent, high-quality robotic surgery safely.
His leadership work extends beyond his own department. He has served on the Board of the Society of Academic Urologists and the Board of the Southeastern Section of the AUA, and he was named 2025 AUA Young Urologist of the Year. He works with physician leaders and administrators on building teams, launching new service lines, and leading them through the early years .
